New from KetteGear

Line Spool.

Wind. Split. Store. Switch fly lines without a single tangle.

KetteGear Line Spool, two-part spool with the KetteGear logo

The problem

Changing lines shouldn't cost you the evening rise.

Loose bundles twist. Mono shooting line kinks and knots the moment you look at it. So most of us keep fishing the line that's already on the reel, even when the water asks for something deeper. Line Spool turns that fight into a quick, clean swap.

How it works

Three moves. No knots.

Clipping the line end into the slot of the spool
01

Wind

Clip the line end into the slot and wind it on, straight from the reel or from a bundle. The spool keeps every turn neat, so nothing twists.

The spool split in two with the coil of line inside
02

Split

Twist the two halves apart. The coil lets go by itself, because the tension comes off the moment you untwist.

03

Store

Lift out a perfect coil, put on two twist ties and slide it into your line wallet. Or leave the line on the spool until next trip.

The clever bit

Twist to tighten. Untwist to let go.

A full line change

From floating to deep, in a few minutes.

  1. Put the bundle on

Place the bundled line on the spool, below the edges. Keep one twist tie on to hold it in order.

  2. Tighten

Twist the spool to cinch the line, find the loop you want to pull, then take off the last twist tie.

  3. Pull it off

The line comes off clean. No twists, no snakes, no knots, even with mono.

  4. Onto the reel

Tie it on and wind it onto the reel. That line was a bundle two minutes ago.

  5. Rewind the old line

Wind the line you took off back onto the spool, guiding it with your thumb.

  6. Back in the wallet

Hook the shooting head on the small spike, untwist to release, and the coil goes back in the wallet.

  • Mono shooting lines

Questions

Good to know.

Which lines can I use it with?

Mono shooting lines, coated shooting lines, shooting heads and weight-forward lines for single-hand fishing.

Will it twist my line?

No. You pull the line off the spool the same way it went on, so it comes off without twists, snakes or knots.

Can I keep my lines on the spools?

Yes. Many anglers keep one spool per line, which is why we sell them in threes. Or split the spool and put the coil in your line wallet.

Does it work with my line wallet?

Yes. Split the spool, lift out the coil, put two twist ties on and it slides into the wallet like a fresh line.

How do I order?
